“Matancera” by Rosario La Tremendita

A radical reinvention of flamenco. A sonic ritual of liberation. A voice like no other! With “Matancera”, the fearless Rosario La Tremendita dismantles tradition to uncover its deepest truths. The show draws on the cultural memory of the matanza—a communal ritual rooted in rural Spain—to explore themes of death, transformation, and shared catharsis.

Melding her flamenco roots with electric bass, distortion, and electronic percussion, La Tremendita constructs a raw, atmospheric landscape where the ancient and the avant-garde collide. Her performance defies categorisation: a trance-like journey through pain, irony, and ecstasy. It is flamenco reimagined as a rite of passage—one that speaks to the collective body.

“En acústico” by Queralt Lahoz

Queralt Lahoz, the Catalan artist with Andalusian roots, offers a stripped-down acoustic version of her powerful sound in “En acústico”. Known for blending flamenco with soul, hip-hop, and Latin influences, Lahoz now invites us to listen closely—to the words, to the breath, to the silences between notes.

Accompanied by minimal instrumentation, she performs beloved songs and previews original material from her new album. Each piece reveals personal stories of identity, love, resilience, and rebirth. Her voice glows with warmth and pain, her delivery fuses delicacy with defiance. This is not just a concert—it’s a heart-to-heart. “El fuego que llevo dentro” by Lela Soto

With “El fuego que llevo dentro”, Lela Soto honours the legacy of her iconic family—descendants of Manuel Soto Sordera, Vicente Soto, and Ray Heredia—while forging a path that is unmistakably her own.

Her debut album, brought to life on stage, is a powerful exploration of memory, inheritance, and feminine strength. Blending traditional forms with original compositions, Soto reflects on love, grief, and the emotional scars we carry. Her sound is soulful, urgent, and unflinchingly honest. From the flamenco clubs of Jerez to the contemporary stage, this is a voice born of fire—and made for today.

The art of the guitar: flamenco’s expressive force at the center

The flamenco guitar, the beating heart of the genre, is featured prominently in a dedicated guitar series, co-produced with Kings Place and the International Guitar Foundation, and supported by Fundación SGAE through its FlamencoEÑE programme. Over three unique evenings, the guitar becomes a narrative force, expressing flamenco through rhythm, emotion, and improvisation.

• 29 May, 7.30 PM: Alejandro Hurtado, one of the most promising flamenco guitarists today, shares the stage with Inmaculada Salomón, principal dancer of the Spanish National Ballet, in “Miradas” — a programme ranging from pre-flamenco works to his own compositions, alongside pieces by Albéniz, Tárrega, and Falla.
• 30 May, 7.30 PM: Guitarist Manuel Valencia and dancer Antonio Molina ‘El Choro’ present “Las tres orillas”, a performance that reflects Valencia’s musical evolution across diverse flamenco styles. El Choro brings dynamic, expressive dance to this emotive journey.
• 8 June, 7.30 PM: The cycle concludes with Álvaro Martinete and dancer Claudia ‘La Debla’ in “Armonía flamenca”, featuring rondeñas, soleás, guajiras, alegrías, and bulerías — a dialogue between tradition and contemporary aesthetics.
