Mercedes Ruiz (1980, Bailaora, Coreographer) and Santiago Lara (1984, composer and guitarist) are established artists in the current flamenco scene.
Holders of the most important awards: National Flamenco Art Award of Córdoba, Giraldillo of the Seville Biennial, Critic and Audience Awards at Festival of Jerez and many more… they have created 12 shows together over 20 years of career, which has led them to step into some of the most important theatres in the world: Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Auditorio Parco della Música (Rome), Teatro La Fenice (Venice), International House of Music (Moscow), Sadler’s Wells (London), Teatro Gran Via (Madrid)…

Mercedes is one of the most prominent references in contemporary dance. She has choreographed for the National Ballet of Spain, specifically for the piece Zaguán, and later worked on compositions such as Tauromagia, by guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar, which was one of her greatest recent successes.

Santiago is a renowned Spanish guitarist, awarded the Giraldillo for Guitar at the Bienal de Arte Flamenco de Sevilla 2018 and the Guitar Award at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2000. He has released five solo albums, including Flamenco Tribute to Pat Metheny (2017) and Tu Canción en mi Guitarra (2021). He frequently works with Mercedes Ruiz, composing music for her 11 productions.
