Miami once again becomes a key stop on Flamenco Festival’s US tour. This year, the city transforms into a nerve center for contemporary flamenco, presenting four unique shows that encapsulate the spirit of this edition.

The performances will take place in two of the city’s most iconic venues: the Knight Concert Hall at the Arsht Center, a landmark for the performing arts, and the Miami Beach Bandshell, an open-air amphitheater set to host the festival’s most electrifying closing night.

Manuel Liñán Revolutionizes Copla in “Muerta de Amor”

Granada-born choreographer and dancer Manuel Liñán, recipient of Spain’s National Dance Award, brings to Miami his critically acclaimed and visually striking work “Muerta de Amor”—a piece born from the need to explore intimacy, desire, and human connection.

With seven dancers and five musicians on stage, Liñán transforms the traditional codes of copla music into a space of creative freedom, where the carnal, the sacred, the fantastical, and the forbidden coexist.

Developed through Flamenco Festival’s In Progress residency program, the show weaves a dynamic dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation, using bold choreography and emotionally charged staging.

Eva Yerbabuena: A Legend in Constant Transformation

Flamenco icon Eva Yerbabuena returns to the stage with her most introspective and theatrical work to date: “Yerbagüena (Bright Dark)”. This evocative performance reflects the essence of her 20-year career, inviting the audience into a world where light and shadow, rigidity and fluidity, and tradition and disruption collide.

On stage, Yerbabuena channels the influence of Pina Bausch, creating an expressive and poetic landscape where movement becomes thought. Backed by a stellar musical ensemble and her renowned choreographic clarity, “Yerbagüena” is more than a performance—it’s a profound act of revelation.

Patricia Guerrero and Alfonso Losa: An Electric Encounter in “Alter Ego”

In “Alter Ego”, two of flamenco’s most powerful voices—Patricia Guerrero (National Dance Award) and Alfonso Losa (Jerez Critics’ Award)—collide in a visceral, unfiltered performance. This award-winning piece, acclaimed by both audiences and critics, explores identity, connection, and the raw language of the body.

“Alter Ego” is flamenco stripped bare: intimate, bold, and deeply human. Guerrero dissects movement with geometric precision, while Losa channels intensity and control. They are joined by Sandra Carrasco, Ismael “El Bola”, and José Manuel Martínez “El Peli”, who deliver a sonic landscape of power and soul.

La Plazuela: The Future of Flamenco Dances to a Funk Beat

The Granada-based duo La Plazuela—made up of El Indio and El Nitro—brings the festival to a thrilling close with their high-voltage show “Roneo Funk Club”. Fusing flamenco with funk, pop, and electronic music, their sound has redefined the genre for a new generation of fans.

Rooted in the Albaicín neighborhood and shaped by a bold visual aesthetic, La Plazuela reimagines tangos and bulerías with a cutting-edge flair. Their magnetic live show promises to ignite the Miami Beach Bandshell with crowd favorites like “Tangos de Copera” and “Péiname, Juana”—a perfect final act to Flamenco Festival’s long-awaited Miami comeback.
