FLAMENCO FESTIVAL NEW YORK TOURS THE UNITED STATES ON ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Shows in various cities accompany the New York program and consolidate flamenco’s presence on the American cultural circuit.

Although New York remains the heart of the festival, the 25th edition of the Flamenco Festival goes beyond the city limits to bring its program to other parts of the United States. Several cities will host selected shows, offering local audiences the opportunity to enjoy some of the Festival’s most outstanding artists and performances, and reaffirming the reach and national projection of contemporary flamenco.

This is the case in Miami, where the Festival’s program extends to two prominent venues. At the Knight Concert Hall of the Arsht Center, Sara Baras will offer two performances of ‘Vuela’ on February 28 and March 1; and, for its part, the Miami Beach Bandshell will welcome Ángeles Toledano on March 5 with ‘In concert’, an event that combines tradition and innovation and will allow audiences to enjoy her powerful voice and her innovative approach to flamenco.

Tampa and Chicago are also venues for this 25th edition. In Tampa, the Straz Center will host Sara Baras and her show ‘Vuela’ on March 3; and in Chicago, the Cervantes Institute has organized two shows at its headquarters: on March 1, Irene Morales will present ‘RAW’, and on March 6, Dani de Morón will do the same with ‘Carte blanche’.

Finally, in Boston, the Berklee Performing Arts Center will host the ‘Tribute to Sabicas’ on March 13, which will move on to New York the following day, with Gerardo Núñez, Antonio Rey, Álvaro Martinete, and Olga Pericet paying tribute to the legend of flamenco guitar.
