Flamenco Festival On Tour kicks off its winter tours with Nuevo Ballet Español in Asia
Rojas & Rodríguez’s company, Nuevo Ballet Español, will present its show “Sangre Flamenca” in Asia. The tour will begin on August 30th in Shanghai, within the program of Spain Day at the Expo’s Spanish Pavilion and will continue in Hong Kong, several cities in Korea (Seoul, Ulsan and Daegu) and will finish in late September in Bangkok
Flamenco Festival presents José María Gallardo and Nuevo Ballet Español at Expo Shanghai 2010 as part of Spain Day’s program in China.
On August 30th, Spain Day in China, a guitar recital by José María Gallardo del Rey and the show by Rojas & Rodríguez’s company (Nuevo Ballet Español) will be presented as part of the Spanish Pavilion’s program for this special date.
Flamenco Festival takes the best flamenco to the Spanish Pavilion at Shanghai 2010
The best flamenco was presented in Shanghai on Thursday, May 13th by the Ballet Nacional de España (BNE). As part of the Spanish Pavilion’s activities program at Expo Shanghai 2010, the Spanish Ballet performed at the Expo Center with two shows which are among the company’s favorites: Dualia, a choreography by two great promises in flamenco as are Carlos Rodríguez and Ángel Rojas, and La Leyenda, taken to the stage by the company’s own director, José Antonio.
Flamenco Festival turns ten years old
In its 10 editions, FLAMENCO FESTIVAL has managed to gather, in the United States alone, over 500,000 spectators in over 230 performances and one million spectators all over the world.
Thus, in the 2010 edition a total of 22 performances have been presented which have been attended by over 40,000 spectators.
Flamenco Festival has contributed this year to the spread of flamenco’s candidacy on UNESCO’s representative list as Intangible Heritage of Mankind.
Flamenco Festival has served one more year as the main showcase on the international market for flamenco and as a meeting point between this artform and audiences from other countries and cultures. It has been performed in by great figures from today’s flamenco scene, both in its traditional side and its more contemporary side: Paco de Lucía, Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, Manolo Sanlúcar, Sara Baras, José Mercé, Eva Yerbabuena, María Pagés, Antonio Canales, Vicente Amigo and Tomatito, among others.
